Behind the Scenes: How our products travel from Bali to Europe
Many of you may have noticed that we operate two different webshops:
👉 ticketothemoon.com (Global Shop)
👉 eu.ticketothemoon.com (EU Shop)
Why is that? And how exactly do our hammocks, bags, and accessories make their way from Bali to your doorstep? Let’s take a journey through our product's path.
It all starts in Bali
Every Ticket to the Moon product is crafted in our own factory in Bali. Today, more than 300 people work there under fair conditions, receiving wages significantly higher than the regional average, shorter working hours, and profit-sharing for all employees.

Our production facility is not an anonymous supplier; it is the heart of Ticket to the Moon. That is why transparency is so important to us – especially when it comes to logistics.
By sea to Europe - bundled for the planet
To supply our European customers quickly and as sustainably as possible, we ship our products in bulk via sea freight:
-
Sea freight from Bali to Hamburg
-
Followed by land transport to our warehouse in Kösching, Germany
Every year, we send about four containers to Europe. A single container is usually filled with around 650 boxes. To give you an idea of the scale: one single box can fit 20 Original Hammocks.
The journey of a container takes about two months from the moment it leaves our factory in Bali until it arrives at our European warehouse.
Why we have our own warehouse in Europe
Having a dedicated European warehouse offers major benefits for you when you are situated in Europe:
- Lightning-fast delivery: Usually 1-2 business days within most European countries.
- Lower shipping costs due to shorter distances.
- Reduced CO₂ emissions compared to individual shipping via air freight.
- No customs fees within the EU, as shipping is handled within Germany.
We also maintain sustainable standards for the "last mile" to your home. Our logistics partner in Europe Quivo uses boxes made from 90% recycled paper, natural-based adhesives, and water-based, solvent-free inks.
Why some products are temporarily out of stock
Our Bali factory doesn't just produce for Europe; it also supplies our local shops. During peak seasons, demand there is extremely high. This means:
-
Certain colors or products may occasionally be sold out in the EU Shop.
-
We plan our container shipments as far in advance as possible, but we are always dependent on what can be produced for export in Bali at that time.
In short: Availability in Europe can sometimes be a challenge, but we are constantly working to improve it.
What happens when you order from the Gobal Shop?
Orders via ticketothemoon.com work differently:
- The product is manufactured directly in Bali for you.
- Shipping is usually handled via air freight.
- Delivery to Europe takes longer and shipping costs are higher.
The big advantage:
The Global Shop features our Customizer, where you can choose individual colors, combinations, and embroideries. It’s perfect for anyone looking for a truly one-of-a-kind product.
