I don't know why this hadn't any reviews but I will do TTTM the favor, because of the great product they built!
I'm relatively new to hammock camping, so I will not evaluate this tarp with years of experience. Consequently I was also taken aback by its rather hefty price tag, but I am now convinced that it is totally worth it. This tarp has almost everything that I could ever wish for. I will now let you into the thought process that led me to chose this Full Moon Tarp over any other and why it might also be a good one for you.
First, I wanted a tarp that can withstand heavy rain and keep me safe during thunder storms. Being able to close the tarp with its wing doors does exactly that. So I think that a tarp really only makes sense if you can cocoon in it like with this one.
I wanted a tarp which I could also use for ground camping as well, since I'm using the TTTM Mat pro for exactly this reason. Having this many tie out points and especially the central tie outs (the ones not on the edge, but on the cloth itself) help with exactly that and you will have space for two sleeping pads side by side.
I wanted a tarp which can also fit two hammocks side by side. Well if it does just lightly rain this works, because of all the tie out points to hang it up like a roof, but for heavy rain you would need a second one, that's just how it is I guess.
I wanted a tarp that packs down small and is very light. TTTM totally nailed the weight to function ratio here. Such a great package.
I wanted a tarp that I would like to use instead of asking me if I needed it. Having the quick releases, chord tensioners, little pouches and all the little things with attention to detail makes it a blast to set up, use and fine tune. There's no feature I miss on this tarp.
It could be a bit bigger to better fit a second hammock, because let's be honest, hammock camping really becomes fun when you do it with friends, family and/or your loved ones. So if one day TTTM makes a bigger version of this, please write me an e-mail :)
