Event Highlight: Bushcraft Jamboree 2026 – More than just a weekend in the woods
If the outdoor community has a "living room," it's the Bushcraft Jamboree. Nestled in the Vogelsberg mountains, a clearing transforms into the epicenter of the German bushcraft scene for a weekend. We at TICKET TO THE MOON have been an integral part of this event for years – and for good reason.
Why we love the Jamboree
For us, the Jamboree is not just an ordinary trade fair. It's like coming home to friends. The location in Herbstein, Hesse, is simply picturesque: wide meadows, dense forest, and that very special energy that arises when hundreds of like-minded people come together.
Especially in the evenings, after the workshops are over, the event truly comes alive. We sit for hours around the large campfire, listening to the live concerts and enjoying the camaraderie. It's precisely these moments that make the Jamboree so precious to us.
Evenings around the fire – this is where the heart of the Jamboree beats.
Our highlight: Who will make it all the way to the top?
At our booth this year, we're reaching new heights! In addition to our current collection of parachute silk hammocks, we'll also be bringing our legendary hammock competition back in 2026.
The principle is simple, yet challenging: Several hammocks are strung directly above one another in the trees. Anyone who manages to skillfully climb from hammock to hammock all the way to the top gets to choose a prize from our selection as a reward. It's great fun for spectators and participants alike!
Courage and skill – our hammock stacking competition.
In conversation with Matthias: The mastermind behind the Jamboree
To understand how such an event comes about, we sat down with the founder, Matthias.
Matthias Busch - Founder and organizer of the Bushcraft Jamboree
TICKET TO THE MOON: Matthias, how did the idea for the Jamboree actually come about? Was there a single "click moment"?
Matthias: I actually come from the restaurant industry, but the outdoors has always been my thing. I noticed there were hardly any good meetups. So I started organizing small gatherings at my place through online forums. After a test weekend with Timo from Savotta, I knew: the concept works. Since I come from the catering industry, organizing events is in my blood. That's how a private get-together turned into a big event.
What awaits us in 2026?
Ticket to the Moon: The Jamboree is constantly growing. What can participants look forward to in 2026 that might be completely new?
Matthias: I always try to maintain the high standard and even raise the bar. We have a new band lined up for 2026 and a huge number of familiar faces from the YouTube scene. That's really unprecedented in this scene. But in the end, it's not about "higher, faster, further," but about ensuring the quality is there.
"I can't promise that meteorites will fall from the sky, but I promise that the vibe will be right."
The philosophy: Bushcraft meets well-being
Ticket to the Moon: You often emphasize that the social aspect is just as important as the workshops. Why is that?
Matthias: I like to compare it to going to a restaurant. The food can be delicious, but if the chairs are uncomfortable, the lights are too bright, and the waiter is grumpy, you won't leave with a good feeling. At the Jamboree, we pay attention to the little things: the kerosene lamp, the sunshade, the right music. It should be a harmonious whole. We want people to unwind.
Ticket to the Moon: What advice do you have for someone attending for the first time in 2026?
Matthias: It's simple: switch off, go with the flow . Just join in, let yourself drift, and enjoy the community. It doesn't matter if you're a professional bushcrafter or sleeping in the woods for the first time.
Why Ticket to the Moon & the Jamboree belong together
Ticket to the Moon: We've been exhibiting here for a long time. What do you appreciate about our collaboration?
Matthias: You guys are real team players. Harmony is extremely important to me, and with you guys I know that's a real partnership. Plus, I'm all about reliable equipment. I've seen ultralight hammocks that ripped the first time they touched a branch – your stuff just lasts. And the fact that you travel all the way from Bali as a team or help us network with other exhibitors shows me that you understand the spirit of the Jamboree.
